Theresa House
Responding to God’s Mission in Sunyani
Sunyani, Ghana — Theresa House Community, previously the African Novitiate, has spacious grounds with a large multi-roomed building. Theresa House is home to a community of two sisters: an administrator who takes care of the property management and a teacher at Notre Dame Girls Senior High School in Sunyani who also assists with communal responsibilities.
Due to the natural décor and serenity that are associated with Theresa House, the place is sometimes used as a recollection/retreat ground for people, mostly religious, who seek to experience the magnificent presence of God. Therefore, the sisters try to keep the atmosphere of the place conducive as well as see to the physical nourishment of the retreatants. Theresa House is also open for small groups of sisters who may want to use the house for meetings or other religious events.
Additionally, the sisters work in the farm to maintain a good yield of garden produce that are substituted for market supplies. The fruits, for instance, are always in abundance and the sisters generously share with other sisters and neighbors especially with Hannukah, the nearby orphanage home.
On Sundays, the sisters worship with the parishioners of Corpus Christi Parish, which enables them to reach out to the youth in the parish.
