Nyabururu Community

Three sisters living in Nyabururu Community.

Nyabururu, Kenya — The Mission in Nyabururu where the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) serve was begun in 1995. Many sisters have been in this community at different times and worked in the Diocese of Kisii at various places and ministries.

In the past, sisters have worked at St. Paul’s Teachers Training College, Chrita Marian Hospital, St. Mary’s Girls Boarding Primary School, Pope Benedict XVI Minor Seminary and Sister Michaela Girls Secondary School, which are all Diocesan establishments. The sisters also work at Nyabururu Girls High School, which is a government school but church sponsored.

At present, we have three sisters living in this community. One teaches English at Pope Benedict XVI Minor Seminary, which belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Kisii and two others, are students at St. Paul’s Training College studying Early Childhood Education and Development (ECDE). The sisters also help in the parish with communion distribution on Sundays and in the sacristy during corona lockdown and holiday time.
